Spot

Join the Brookhaven Free Library for a Children’s Field Trip to Westhampton Performing Arts to see "Spot Goes to the Farm – A Musical Theater Production" on Thursday, February 5th. Choose between a 10:00am OR 12:30pm performance.

The children’s musical, Spot Goes to the Farm, will be performed by the amazing Theatre Terra who returns to North America with this charming new work based on the popular children’s book series by Eric Hill. Spot, the most famous and beloved little dog in children's literature, will take the audience on a wonderful adventure that begins on a farm where all of the animals are lost! Can anyone help Spot and his friend Helen find them?

Transportation is on your own. Children must be at least 3 years old, and accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children under 3 will not be permitted in the theater. Children with a valid Brookhaven Free Library card may sign-up at the Children’s Desk for free tickets. (Please only one adult ticket per family.) A library representative will distribute your tickets on the day of the performance in the theater lobby.

Bus Trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show on Saturday, March 7th

Flower Show

Join the Brookhaven Free Library for a bus trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show on Saturday, March 7th. View large-scale gardens, elaborate landscapes, and over-the-top floral creations at the world’s oldest and largest in-door flower show. This year, leading floral designers will tip their hats to cinema, as they pay tribute to some of America's favorite films. Flower show visitors will view interactive exhibits as they: Travel the yellow brick road to the shimmering Emerald City, swing through tress as heroic Tarzan, splash down the street while “Singing in the Rain,” and journey to Pandora, the lush and tropical setting of the film Avatar.

In addition to the acres of gardens and hundreds of displays to view at the show, don’t miss visiting Redding Terminal Market, located directly across the street from the show. The Market is one of America’s largest and oldest markets, and is filled with culinary delights. There you will find: locally grown and exotic produce, Amish specialties, fresh meats, seafood, poultry, handmade confections, baked goods, fresh cut flowers, table linens, a wide variety of restaurants and much, much more! Feel free to bring a cooler so you can enjoy your delicacies at home.

Tickets are $83pp, and includes round trip Hampton Jitney Luxury Coach Bus, entrance to the Flower Show and gratuity. Brookhaven Free Library cardholders may purchase 4 tickets per valid adult card. The bus will leave the Library at 8:00am, and return between 9:00pm and 9:30pm.

The Brookhaven Free Library Celebrates Its Centennial

Brookhaven Library

One hundred years ago, a small group of women met at 285 Beaver Dam Road to discuss the possible formation of a suffrage club. After discussion, it was decided that a Library Club would be more helpful to the community, and so, the Fireplace Library Club was formed. The club grew and changed with time, was granted a charter, and became the Brookhaven Free Library. It has grown from a private club of 63 members and 500 books, to an active, modern, Public Library with over 30,000 volumes and almost 5,000 registered cardholders. On Sunday, May 20th, the Library held a celebration for their Centennial. There was music, food and drink, as well as historical presentations and artifacts on hand. The community-created quilt was on display, along with lots of other fun events. Click to see photos from the Celebration.
