The improvements include: a new handicap accessible restroom, renovated family restroom, expanded patron computer area, added collection space for non-fiction and magazines, newly configured space for staff, new roof, improvements to HVAC systems, new shutters, repaired fence, painting of building and fence. To celebrate the completion of these renovations, they are hosting a reception. You are invited to join them on Saturday, June 13th from 2:00pm-3:00pm. The Brookhaven Free Library Celebrates Its Centennial

Brookhaven Library

One hundred years ago, a small group of women met at 285 Beaver Dam Road to discuss the possible formation of a suffrage club. After discussion, it was decided that a Library Club would be more helpful to the community, and so, the Fireplace Library Club was formed. The club grew and changed with time, was granted a charter, and became the Brookhaven Free Library. It has grown from a private club of 63 members and 500 books, to an active, modern, Public Library with over 30,000 volumes and almost 5,000 registered cardholders. On Sunday, May 20th, the Library held a celebration for their Centennial. There was music, food and drink, as well as historical presentations and artifacts on hand. The community-created quilt was on display, along with lots of other fun events. Click to see photos from the Celebration.
