Corporate and a new Associate membership for golfers age 21-35. The use
of golf carts is not mandatory. Our course is open during the winter on
Friday, Saturday and Sunday – weather permitting. I look forward to seeing you at the course – Happy Golfing!! Sincerely,
Mayor The Bellport Country Club was established in 1899. It relocated in 1919 to a course designed by architect Seth Raynor only a few blocks from the original course. The course offers a variety of memberships as well as access to all of its amenities. It is located on the Great South Bay with a breathtaking view of the Bellport Bay and the dunes on Fire Island. The course measures 6,329 yards from the black tees, 6011 from the blue tees, 5539 from the white tees and 5078 from the red tees. The course is great for all levels of golfers and is easily playable in 4 hours and 15 minutes. The par 5's measure 521, 560 and 521 from the back tees, with all other holes playing average to long in length. It is a challenging layout with some breathtaking views. Over the years, improvements have been made to keep the golf course in step with the times and in top-condition. Irrigation systems were installed twice over the years to keep the course well irrigated and green. The two bay holes were redesigned in the 1960's by Robert Trent Jones. More recently, architect William Love completed a four-year renovation at a cost of $1.5 million. All 18 holes were involved in the renovation that provides improvements, but still retains the design created by the original architect, Seth Raynor, whose trademark adaptations of famous holes came from courses in the United Kingdom. Bellport Country Club takes pride in that many outstanding professionals have been hosted including Fred Couples, Gene Sarazen, Walter Hagen, and many others. Sportswriter Grantland Rice also played many rounds. The club is also proud of its women's participation. The Bellport Women's Golf Association was formed in 1954 and seeks to promote a competitive and social atmosphere at the Bellport Country Club. In 2004, Bellport Country Club received certification in Environmental Planning from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System (ACSS), an international program administered by Audubon International designed to help landowners preserve and enhance the environmental quality of their property. The plan was developed by Robert Furchert, Bellport Country Club Superintendent, who is also recognized for his effort to plan environmental stewardship. Village I.D. Card Your Village I.D. Card must be up to date and presented at time of play. You will not be allowed to play if you do not have an updated resident I.D. card. Golf Membership And
Daily Rates In Season Dress Code Any person (resident member and guests) who wishes to play golf must use non-metal spikes. No one will be permitted to play golf unless this requirement is met. There will be no exception to this rule! This computerized system is for members only and can be reached by calling 631-286-4170. Village residents wishing to reserve a tee time should call the Golf Starter at 631-286-4139. The course opens at 7:00am on weekdays, and at 6:00am on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. The course is open year round. Definitions to know before using the system: "Preferred Placement"- "Preferred Placement" is a weighted lottery method to assign weekend and holiday morning starting times to Village residents, prior to 11:30am. It is based on your past history of acquiring tee times. If you received the tee time you wanted this weekend, your chances of getting the tee time that you want the following weekend decreases. If you received a tee time that you did not want this weekend, your chances of getting the tee time that you want next weekend will increase. "First Come First Served"- "First Come First Served" is the method used to assign all weekday times, as well as weekend times after 11:30am, to Village residents. The First Come First Served method will also be used by our Junior residents to acquire after 2:00pm tee times. You will make a starting time request and the computer will assign you a tee time immediately based upon the openings available at the time of your call. "Village Identification Number"- All residents must obtain a "Village Identification Number" in order to use the starting time reservation system. When you reserve a tee time, the system will ask for the identification numbers for each player in the group. If you do not have a Village Identification Number, you can get one at the Village Hall. "Reservation Confirmation Number"- Every
time you reserve a starting time through the system, you will be given a
confirmation number. You will need this number in order to change or
cancel your reservation. The system will not allow one member to be part of two tee time reservations for the same day. Once a resident is involved in one group's reservation request, he will be refused from all other reservation requests. This is in place to protect fellow residents' rights in acquiring prime tee times. In the past some residents have booked two tee times and then canceled the one they did not want. The system has the ability to service multiple groups together on a reservation. For instance if you have 16 residents who want to play together, these groups would have consecutive tee times on the starting sheet. Their chances of getting the starting time they want does not increase or decrease because of this. The system has the ability to track the number of guests each resident brings. Resident members are allowed to bring six guests per month. The limit is in place out of respect for your fellow golfers and their right to access the golf course.
If you would like to play with a guest before
11:30am on a Saturday, please call the starter direct at
631-286-4139 on Thursday after
7:00am. If you would like to play with a guest on Sunday before 11:30am,
call the starter direct on Friday after 7:00am. Reservations for Weekends and Holidays
After
11:30am Suggestions For Beginner Golfers Newcomers to the game of golf should go down to the course and register to play between 5:30pm and 6:30pm. This time of day is great for the newer golfer whose pace of play is usually a little slower than the more experienced player. There is less traffic on the first tee at this time of day and you can play at a leisurely pace. Food and beverage services are provided. The Bellport Country Club Grill Room is available for golf and tennis members. It is open Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 6:00am to 6:00pm. Food and beverage carts are also dispatched on the golf course. In addition, an upstairs fine-dining restaurant is located on the second floor of the clubhouse with a beautiful panoramic view of the golf course and the Great South Bay. Catering for up to 400 people is available on the first floor of the clubhouse. Guest Privileges Guests are not permitted on Golf Course before 10:30am on weekends and holidays throughout the year. |
