"For my toddlers, the three BEST toys for a long plane ride were: a Mr. Potato Head toy, a set of those Russian stacking dolls, and playdoh with cookie cutters and a garlic press. The Mr. Potato Head was great when the girls were learning the parts of their faces. Plus they loved to "try on" the different mouths, eyes, etc. on themselves, on Mommy, etc. The stacking dolls were always fun to stack and the kids loved to squirt the playdoh into long strings with the garlic press and make shapes with the cookie cutters.

"A portable DVD player is key for long car rides or flights. But make sure you get one with a long battery life. We found a Sony DVD player on sale for under $100 at Target and it has a 5 hour battery life- enough to get you almost cross country on a flight."

"Before I travel I wrap up in wrapping paper a few new small toys, as well as some toys that haven't been played with in a while. My son loves to unwrap something "new" and is always excited when he sees a new "present" waiting in my bag. We made it through several flights this way."
