Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth (LIGALY) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit that has been providing education, advocacy, and social support services to Long Island's gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) youth and families since 1993. LIGALY operates Long Island's only GLBT community center in Bay Shore. Bellport residents can learn more about LIGALY at any upcoming LIGALY event.

LIGALY provides a broad range of services and programs including activities for youth, programs for adults and families, and special events throughout the year. Our calendar available at our website. The LIGALY Community Center in Bay Shore hosts more than 20 different community groups, and LIGALY services are provided at The Center and at schools across Long Island.

On Sunday, August 19, 2007, LIGALY held their annual "On the Bay" fundraiser event in Bellport at the waterfront home of Mr. Carl Jacobs. Although the skies were cloudy, the weather held and everyone had a fabulous time! This splendid afternoon event featured sumptuous food, savory wine, and a savvy mix of individuals from New York City to the Hamptons. This year, Carson Kressley of "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy" was honored for his visibility and advocacy on behalf of GLBT youth! Proceeds from the event benefited Long Island Gay and Lesbian Youth (LIGALY), and the vital services LIGALY provides to thousands of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) youth and families annually. Click on the photo to see a slideshow of photos from the event.
