2008 will mark the 25th annual "Clipper Classic" 5K Run and 1500 Fun Walk through the Village of Bellport. This year's race will be held on Sunday, July 13th. The race starts at the Gateway Theatre, loops through the Village, and finishes at the Marina. With over 400 runners and dozens of walkers, this race is a huge event that is not to be missed!

The race is held by the South Country Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes and supports local education through scholarships and grants. Proceeds from the Clipper Classic race go to the Bellport Clipper Classic Scholarship Fund.

What started as a rather hot July day, turned into a perfect summer evening by the time the race was set to start. Congratulations to all of the runners and walkers!

Bellport Trustee, Sherry Binnington, even participated in the race! Way to go, Sherry!
