The South Country Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization committed to improving educational opportunities for all students in the South Country School District. The mission of the Foundation is to promote and enhance educational initiatives by providing supplemental financial support for projects and programs that are outside the South Country School budget. The Foundation seeks to forge a cooperative effort among the members of the community to help expand educational opportunities and to capitalize on the special resources we have available in our district.

SCEF's 10th Annual Cocktail Party and Auction

The South Country Education Foundation will hold their 10th Annual Cocktail Party and Auction to benefit the South Country Education Foundation, Inc. on Saturday, July 12th from 5:00pm-7:30pm. Each year, the event has continued to increase the amount of scholarship and grant monies which benefit the students in this school district. The foundation hopes this year's gala will be no exception.

In anticipation, SCEF is asking the community for support...not only by attending the gala on July 12th, but by contributing goods and services which can be auctioned at the party. Annual Clipper Classic 5K Race and 1.5K Walk

The South Country Education Foundation sponsors one of the most exciting annual events in Bellport, The Clipper Classic 5K Race and 1.5K Walk. Proceeds from the race benefit the Bellport Clipper Classic Scholarship Fund. 2008 will mark the 25th anniversary of the Race and will be held on July 13th.

The Becker/Gambles Music Fund

The Becker/Gambles Music Fund is a subcommittee of the South Country Education Foundation, Inc. and was formed to support music education in the South Country School district. The fund presents concerts through out the year to bring great music to our community, arranges master classes and assembly programs that bring gifted musicians into our schools, provides scholarships for summer music study to deserving students from 4^th grade through 11^th grade and runs a music instrument donation program that helps provide instruments to our music students.

If you have a clarinet, flute or violin lying unused in a basement, closet or attic in your home, please consider donating it to the music program in our schools. We will arrange to pick it up and get it to the music department. Karen Rowley coordinates this drive and would love to hear from you, give her a call at 286 – 0975.

The music fund is guided by a hard working committee dedicated to bringing the joy of music to our students and community. They are Chantal Berman, Tim Hogan, Daryl Jordan, Nancy Marr, Karen Rowley, Dava Stravinsky, Will Struyk, and Gene Westhoff.

We wish to thank those who responded to our recent letter asking for donations. The generosity of our community was awesome, over $ 4,000 was raised. These funds will go directly to students in the form of scholarships for this summer.
