Bellport Building Department

Prior to any additions or alterations made to your property, you MUST contact the Building Department to obtain the proper legal building permits. If you live in a historic district, it is strongly recommended that you contact the Building Inspector before you do any alterations or renovations.

Historic Districts

  • Bellport Lane
  • Bell Street
  • Browns Lane
  • Hulse & Tuthill Streets
  • Academy Lane

If you are planning on making any changes to your residence, please check with the Building Department at the Village Hall to see if a permit is required. Permits are required for the addition, alteration, extension or demolition of the following:

  • Pool
  • Fence
  • Shed
  • Deck
  • Satellite Dish
  • Garage
  • Sign (Commercial)

In addition, if you are planning a curb cut or installing a new driveway, your contractor MUST contact the Village Hall or the Highway Department to insure proper drainage or that proper elevations are maintained.

If you have altered/added/demolished your residence without a legal permit to do so, or your records do not have a Certificate of Occupancy or Zoning Letter of Compliance for every structure on your property, you must contact the Building Department at the Village Hall immediately.

The Building Department can be reached by phone at 631-286-0327.
